  Mom & Dad (Uber Dubs) and convo about child abuse within the BORG

  so i tt mom and dad via skype last weekend (they live on the other part of the county) and the topic of abuse came up.

  of course they went ahead and blasted catholics for their coverups.

  i mentioned gonzalo campos, now mom and dad know this guy he went to their hall for several years in san diego.

  Guapo, I had a similar situation some time back. I wrote the branch about the sex abuse and the elders met with me to discuss the issue. They were cool about it and did admit that there have been instances of abuse but that it was always handled in the best way possible.

  When I asked why those things happened, their best response was that Jehovah allows it so we have to wait on him to react.

  I might recommend either don't go to the meeting or go and try to distance yourself personally from the issue. Maybe you can say someone mentioned it to you or you heard the story on the news to keep you free from more drama with the Elders.

  Anyway, wish you the best. You don't owe those dudes any explanations but if you choose to sit with them be prepared mentally to not get angry.

  Yeah I shunned my fair share of people and still heavily regret doing so. Those victimized by my tunnel-vision were my own mother, best friend, and countless others of which some I knew well and others not so much.

  Did I reconcile?

  My mother eventually was re-admitted and things were cool after awhile- I apologized to her for my behavior but I don't think she's ever really forgiven me for betraying her. The rest I hope to do right by and will take each one a step at a time. Now I'm the one being shunned, funny how karma works.

  Nightmares when active JW

  i remember when i was active, i would constantly get nightmares regarding armageddon.. used to wake up so many times at night watch my window, pray hard and try to go to sleep.

  now i wonder that this organization was really succcessful in making people scared to death about 'current system of things', but why would anyone do that?

  why would anyone want to bring division in families, make hate speeches, scare people to death, etc?

  I think most people that are in, really feel convinced about the end of this "doomed" system. The hate and divisions is a by-product of the indoctrination and fear tactics used to keep people where they are. I too would regularly feel genuine fear of Armaggedon and would pray all the time that I'd be found acceptable and worthy of life.

  Sad to see so many earnest people being led down such a hard road, feel especially bad for those elderly people that find themselves in too deep for change. It's just like drowning..

  jaydub forged my signature on govt. docs

  so i recently learned that my ex-wife (who is still an active jaydub) forged my signature on govt.

  documents in order to receive my share of small settlement i was going to get.

  i haven't even seen her in about 6 years.

  I agree, report to the police and get what's owed to you.

  By the time she's reported and the congregation finds out she's in jail or at least in trouble for lieing, they'll take care of ruining her reputation on their own.

  i've been trying to avoid posting this, due to extreme paranoia but its time to post my story.

  i hope to not post too many details, as we've avoided being df so far, our group elder was young and lovely and cool and i just hope that in time he learns the ttatt.. i'm a regular lurker on here, occasional poster (i can't post much as my phone browser only lets me read but not post, so i only post on the odd occasion i get a time alone on the pc).

  i have been fading since round about last september ( so almost my first anniversary of learning ttatt).

  i was baptized in 1986 but soon after left the religion.

  theres a whole lot to the reasons why i left, but i left.

  Going to Kingdom Hall for first time

  since my family is out of town, and i am alone this weekend, i have decided to attend this once to see these things for myself.

  have no fear, i have absolutely no interest in joining.

  my goal is simply to better understand how to reach those who are on the inside, and i feel i could better do that by observing it.
